DNA, now there's a mind boggling subject for sure.

End of last year, 2012, I submitted my DNA sample to Ancestry.com.  I have a half aunt who submitted hers. Her father is my grandfather, her mother was my step grandmother. When we got our results back she comes up as the closest match of their thousands of submitters, that didn't surprise me, I am an only child. What did surprise me is that she shows up as a first or second cousin.

I'm waiting for the results to my husbands DNA. His is also through Ancestry.com, but his brother recently did his through National Geographic Genographic Project, which my understanding is there isn't a way yet to compare the 2 tests. Would be nice if the different companies would play nice together. So I ordered that test kit today for a way to compare findings.  As I understand it right now siblings won't necessarily show a match to each other, and that is where my head starts spinning, but I am working on getting it under control to be able to work with the findings better.
